| 8 months, 2 weeks ago There is a reason why they don't punish false reports: they don't want to discourage people from calling for fear that they might be prosecuted. However, CPS does a pretty good job of investigating before they take action. That's why they came out to check. If you do nothing wrong, you have nothing to worry about. All state enforcement agencies have similar policies for anonymous reports. While it causes inconvenience to some, it removes barriers to reports of real violations and protect children who are in danger. You may consider taking out a restraining order against your sister-in-law to document the incident. If she violates the order, you can easily get her prosecuted. |
